First Impression: Black Pean 2 (2024)

Not gonna lie, watching this for the sake of Nino. I wasn’t a big fan of Black Pean tbh, it’s too political for my taste.
Anyway, anything about Arashi is very welcomed, even if I have to go through the pain of understanding political world of medicine - which sucks. Can’t believe this happens in a world where human’s lives should be at the forefront of everything.
Rant aside — as I am writing this, I am already on episode 8, so this is technically not a first impression anymore, but I can say for sure that this sequel is surprisingly for me is better than Black Pean 1. Sera is no longer someone to boss around by Tokai, and Amagi Yukihiko as a character is much more interesting than Tokai. Weird French accent and all, Nino’s acting power is on display here.
One thing that I am not sure about is about Takashina — he was such a prominent figure in Black Pean, but in this sequel, he’s just a dressing so far. He doesn’t get a lot of screen time aside of being Dr Sugai’s pawn (and even that’s a questionable role).
Episode 8 so far was the biggest surprise — and with only two episodes to go, I am excited to see how they will end this. If this is how they are handling sequel, I won’t mind if they make Black Pean 3.
